Why and who may request a relic?
If your community wishes to worthily honor Blessed István Sándor, Salesian Brother and Martyr, it is possible to request a minor relic, to be placed in a church, religious house, or other sacred space.
The request may only be submitted by a parish priest, religious superior, or delegated ecclesiastical authority.

Conditions for requesting a relic

A relic is not a collectible item and may not be sold or traded.
It may only be requested for placement in a sacred and worthy place, preferably a church or chapel.
The request must be made in the name of an ecclesiastical authority or community (parish, religious superior, diocese, congregation, etc.).
The relic is provided free of charge, but the requesting party is responsible for the proper custody of the relic, including the reliquary and its location.

✉️ How to submit the request
The request should be written on the official letterhead of the ecclesiastical institution (parish, diocese, congregation, shrine, etc.) and include:

Details of the applicant: name of the institution, responsible person, full address

Purpose: reason for the request (e.g., public veneration, altar, chapel, reliquary)

Place of exposition: description of where the relic will be kept

Commitment: a statement of adherence to canonical norms and the instructions of the Holy See
It is recommended to attach a letter of endorsement from the parish priest or superior of the requesting institution, as well as any documents demonstrating the suitability of the place intended for the relic.

Relics are granted only for public veneration, not for private collections.

The Postulation will evaluate the request based on its seriousness and the proposed destination.

A written authorization (nihil obstat) from the local ordinary (bishop or religious superior) may be required.
