Prayer Movement
SDB
“The love of prayer and of the Eucharist was at the centre of his spirituality.”
— Pope Francis, October 20, 2013, at the Angelus
United in Prayer
On the initiative of the Salesian Family, we are launching a prayer movement on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the birth of Blessed Stephen Sándor.
Our goal is to pray daily and together for:
the canonization of Blessed Stephen Sándor,
young people,
new priestly and religious vocations, and
the spiritual renewal of our homeland.
Joining the prayer movement does not require registration or sign-up — a simple inner decision and daily prayer are enough.
Special Prayer Time: Mondays at 9:10 p.m.
This was the time when Blessed Stephen Sándor was executed (on June 8, 1953).
Therefore, we encourage everyone to unite especially in prayer every Monday at 9:10 p.m.
“On Mondays at 9:10 p.m. — at the hour of his execution — let us say personal prayers as well, asking Blessed Stephen Sándor’s intercession for youth, vocations, and our country.”
What Should We Pray?
Daily Prayer Offering of the Blessed Stephen Sándor Prayer Movement
Almighty God,
You called your servant Stephen Sándor
to be part of Don Bosco’s great SalesianFamily.
You guided him, through Mary Help of Christians,
in his difficult mission for the salvation of souls
and in sacrificing his life for Hungarian youth.
He gave witness to You.
At a time of persecution of the Church,
he promoted Catholic press,
service of the altar
education of the young.
By his faithful and loyal spirit
he pointed out to us
to the way what is good and just.
We ask You to glorify him
with the crown of martyrdom.
Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Our Father,
Hail Mary,
Glory Be…
Blessed Stephen Sándor,
Salesian brother and martyr,
pray for us!
Why Pray for His Canonization?
“The beatification of Stephen Sándor is a moral and spiritual compensation for the Church and for the Hungarian nation. Moreover, it is of great importance for Hungarian youth, who need a patron capable of generous sacrifice and an exemplary model who teaches the uncompromising fulfillment of duty, bearing conscious witness to one’s faith.”
